Kevin Doyle is a National Endowment for the Arts National Heritage Fellow.

Kevin achieved this highest honor awarded to an American traditional artist, as a dancer devoted to and inspired by steps brought to the United States by his Irish born mother in the the 1930s. Doyle is a delightful, compelling performer of old style traditional Irish step dance and American tap dance. A lifelong dancer and performer, Kevin was a U.S. Champion Irish step dancer in his early competitive years, and has been entertaining audiences ever since with his traditional style of "close to the ground" rhythms and intricate foot work as an artist, a choreographer, producer, and teacher.

Kevin is available for:

• solo performance & collaborations
• choreography
• lecture/demo (The Irish Roots of American Tap Dance)
• artist-in-residence & school programs
• private or group lessons
• drum circles

  • I commend NEA for selecting Kevin Doyle to receive our nation's highest honor in the folk and traditional arts. Kevin is an elite artist with a common touch. He makes Irish step dancing look easy, but he is someone who has poured many years of hard work, sweat, and soul into honing his craft. I think it is great that he is being recognized on a national stage and making Rhode Island and our Irish-American community proud.
